Case Study 1 - Creating Excellence in Communication
Issues
The IT support arm of a large machine and manufacturer had been operating in Bangalore since the company’s entry into India. The management wanted to foster a culture of communications excellence across the various teams in order to enhance operations efficiency and customer service.
CWSolution conducted a series of need analysis interviews which indicated that:
- Employees lacked understanding of key concepts of communications, professional etiquette and team effectiveness
- Communication skills were not regarded as relevant to their job by many employees
- There was a general preference for experiential leanings with an strong emphasis on workplace application
Solutions
Our consultants facilitated meetings between the line managers and HR to ensure proper transfer for employees. We partnered with both strands of the organization
to design a comprehensive on-the-job performance evaluation tool. These meetings were instrumental in creating management buy-in to the programme and ensured clarity in setting its objectives.
CWS designed a program centered on three learning events of two days duration, each spread across a period of four months. Each event focused on:
- Identifying key concepts and raising awareness
- Gaining practical skills
- exploring work-place application of effective behaviors
- learning through fun
CWSolution’s seamless blend of concept-driven and experiential learning approaches proved to be very popular with the participants
Case Study 2 - Management Excellence
Issues
A local company felt that its new leaders were one of the organization’s most important assets. Proving it was a challenge, though, since it required that they demonstrate the impact of their learning and training initiatives on individual and corporate performance. New leaders in the company were responsible for linking their own strategic plans and business objectives to the development of curricula for their learning and training programs, often in a global environment. CWSolution extended comprehensive and timely solutions to the management initiative.
Solutions
CWSolution worked with the client to:
- Analyze the entire spectrum of their activities and products
- Identify key areas of need, including: strategic and operational planning, curriculum planning and evaluation, and training planning and evaluation
- Provide the tools to easily and rapidly involve a broad spectrum of stakeholders,
inside the corporate university and throughout their global organization, in all levels of input in Leadership Schemes.
The client had the benefit of:
- Significantly reduced costs and increased efficiencies in strategic and operational planning, curriculum planning and evaluation, and training planning and evaluation
- Strong buy-in and involvement of external, organizational clients
- The ability to detect and resolve disconnects between training design teams and clients before investing in costly training development efforts
- Strong recognition throughout the organization of the value of the leadership programme in supporting organizational strategic objectives and performance
Case Study 3 - Managing Growth
Issues
A leading provider of unified storage and data management solutions was doubling the size of its Indian operation. Their growing international customer base had developed far quicker than anticipated, and there was a need to enhance their management, coaching and customer service performance if they were to retain credibility in a highly competitive global market.
Proprietary software product was developed by a business services provider and sold to its clients. Installation and customization was performed by the organization’s field service representatives at the client’s site.
Based on feedback from several client sites, the company lacked a consistent approach to critical business activities. Sharing of 'best practice' did not exist and was costing the business both customers and money. If they were to build their already powerful brand and achieve tough financial targets during a period of strong growth, better teamwork was required.
Solutions
CWSolution designed a unique facilitation and coaching programme to:
- Instill new skills, attitudes and behaviors in all levels of management
- Improve cross-site and cross-cultural communication.
- Promote personal ownership of issues and results
- Develop a genuine sense of 'teamwork' with authentic support available.
Managers, Team Leaders, Customer Service Representatives and Technical Support Engineers all participated in the highly participative programme to ensure that they shared not just the ideas, but developed more productive relationships and enhanced communication standards that would promote sustainable improvements in the workplace.
A personal coaching programme followed three weeks after the facilitation event. The coaching provided a powerful catalyst to further build on the new, improved results achieved on the front line and add more practical skills and approaches to the improvements they had already made.
